East Dunbartonshire Council, in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, has developed a Community Testing Team. The Community Testing Team will deliver COVID-19 testing across East Dunbartonshire’s communities and provide information of support available to anyone who requires to isolate as a consequence of a positive test. Widespread community testing is essential in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping our communities safe.
The purpose of the Community Testing Team will be to aim to reduce COVID- 19 community transmission by identifying and isolating cases that would otherwise be missed within the community.
This will be achieved though offering asymptomatic testing to anyone who lives or works in East Dunbartonshire, which can help identify people who are infected, have no symptoms, and are unaware that they may be spreading the virus. In the event of a positive test advice and information will be provided relating to the wrap around, test and protect isolation support available.
The Service will also distribute home testing kits and provide advice on their usage.
The Community Testing Service will provide fixed, mobile and portable asymptomatic testing at the Wall Memorial Hall, Bishopbriggs, at regularly identified venues within other communities and via a mobile service which will attend various locations, sites and events throughout the authority. Full training will be provided by in all aspects of the community testing process which includes ensuring people are have registered and are eligible for testing, conducting the processing and analysis of tests, uploading the results, distribute home testing kits, and provide advice and information relating to wrap around support available in the event of a positive test. You will be required to work as part of a team that delivers Community Testing in an ever-changing working environment and there may regularly be out of hours work in response to service demands.
Job Title – Community Testing Operative
Location – War Memorial Hall, Bishopbriggs/Various across East Dunbartonshire
Contract Type – Temporary (up to 12 months)
Position Full Time Hours 35 – we will also consider applications for part-time hours.
As a Community Testing Operative you will deliver an efficient and effective asymptomatic testing service to the residents of East Dunbartonshire with the highest level of customer service. You will undertake all the duties of the testing site on a rotational basis as advised by the Team Leader.
These duties include; ensuring queue control, ensuring people are have registered and are eligible for testing, conducting the processing and analysis of tests and uploading the results, distribute home testing kits, provide advice and information relating to wrap around support available in the event of a positive test. You will have experience of working with customers and have the ability to handle difficult situations and demanding customers in a calm and professional manner with empathy and sensitivity.
You will require word processing skills and the ability to use database systems.
You will be required to work as part of a team that support the Community Testing Service in an ever changing working environment and there may regularly be out of hours work in response to service demands.
PVG / Disclosure Scotland
PVG / Disclosure Scotland The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.
Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment.
Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
