As one of the five key Regional Safety Managers you will also be part of a Global Safety Team, helping set the strategic company direction and policy.
The role
Both directly and through team management we’ll look to you to further develop and maintain an engaging safety culture that focuses on injury and illness prevention, by promoting personal and shared responsibility for the wellbeing of individuals and fellow colleagues and ensuring processes and systems are in place to consistently meet compliance with relevant Health and Safety regulations, across our European business.
This will be achieved through:
- Keeping under review key health and safety risks and the effectiveness of controls, so that safety considerations are an integral part of wider business decisions and plans
- Developing and, with operational management, driving the implementation of an annual health and safety plan that identifies priorities and is aligned with Group Health and Safety strategy
- Integrating new business acquisitions into SLR’s health and safety culture and systems
- Ensuring that practical and timely health and safety support is provided for higher risk projects, including the review of risk assessments and safety plans where requested
- Tracking the business safety performance versus goals and provide a monthly management report
- Instructing and overseeing appropriate levels of investigation for all accidents and significant near misses, sharing lessons learned
- Researching, recommending and implementing systems and process as appropriate to enhance efficiency of the business.
Collaborating with the other Regional Managers, you’ll be expected to contribute to the development of Group policy and campaigns, sharing your knowledge as a member of the Global Health and Safety Team.

Skills and experience:
- Certified member of IOSH. Other equivalent qualifications and experience would be considered.
- Significant senior managerial experience within a safety related role.
- Proven ability to engage others and instigate change in culture and habits.
- Credible with senior managers, operational consultants and with business support functions.
- A pragmatic common-sense decision maker.
- Ability to interpret health and safety regulations within the context of varied work environments.
- Experience within a similar service led organisation would be desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
- Full driving license valid in the UK
With significant managerial experience in safety related roles, you’ll have the proven ability to engage others and be an instigator of change, in culture and habits.
