Airbus is looking for a Head of Environmental Health & Safety to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the implementation of effective environmental health and safety systems within the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and execute plans to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while promoting a positive work culture that values employee well-being and sustainability.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and programs that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Lead and manage a team of environmental health and safety professionals, providing guidance and support on complex issues and ensuring they have the necessary resources and training to effectively carry out their duties.
  • Monitor and analyse trends in environmental health and safety regulations and technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing proactive measures to mitigate risk and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, engineering, and human resources, to integrate environmental health and safety considerations into all aspects of business operations.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to identify areas of noncompliance and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare and present reports and updates to senior management on environmental health and safety initiatives and progress.
  • Identify emerging environmental health and safety risks and develop strategies to address them.
  • Promote a culture of safety and sustainability throughout the organization by engaging employees at all levels and fostering collaboration between different departments.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups, to ensure transparency and accountability in environmental health and safety efforts.
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant legislation and regulations and adjust the strategy accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering or a related field.
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • Extensive experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and driving change within organizations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior executives and employees at all levels.
  • Ability to balance short-term needs with long-term goals and develop strategies to achieve both.
  • Knowledge of international standards and frameworks related to environmental health and safety, such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
  • Familiarity with environmental health and safety regulations and enforcement mechanisms in multiple countries.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in another language is a plus.
