The Role
To provide Health, Safety and Environmental advice and guidance to the site to ensure compliance with the health and safety law as required by Regulation 7 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations1999: ISO14001: Group H&S policies and local H&S policies and procedures
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of Safety First through effective engagement strategy with all colleagues.
- Monitor the effectiveness and adherence to the Group H & S Policy.
- Create a coherent site Safety Deployment plan in support of the site requirements.
- Improve the behavioral safety program to ensure buy in and engagement at all levels
- Ensure all safety records are maintained.
- Assist departmental/line managers in the investigation of accidents/ incidents
- Ensure the provision of accident/ incident / minor accident and near miss statistics on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis as directed.
- Stop any plant, machinery or activity where there is a danger to a person or persons, or where damage to premises or equipment is foreseeable.
- Ensure that the Company’s obligations in respect of risk assessment, Safe Systems Of Work (SSOW), control and monitoring of hazardous substances, work equipment and manual-handling
- Monitor performance against Environmental Accreditation guidelines and legal requirements
- Deliver training in all aspects of Safety, liaising with managers and external trainers on the quality and content of the training to be provided where appropriate.
- Carry out periodic safety inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe plant, working conditions and practices.
- Report to the management team on the findings of safety inspections and make recommendations for remedying any defects found.
- Keep abreast of changing legislation pertinent to the corrugating industry and associated areas.
- As budget owner, manage costs to be in line with agreed departmental budgets including planning activities within budget constraints.
- Your duties may be expanded, by reasonable request, to meet business need
Communication – Planning
- Assist in the development of effective policies and procedures
- Promote Company HS&E initiatives and promote a positive culture
- Provide competent HS&E advice and information upon request
- Liaise with safety representatives and enforcement authorities as required
- Assist in the production of reports for the senior management team
- Ensure all reportable accidents are communicated to the relevant authorities
- Undertake basic safety training and core safety briefs
- Arrange and attend monthly safety meetings with senior management and union representatives
Data Responsibilities
- Ensure all statistical information is presented in an comprehensible and logical manner
- Ensure all data is communicated to the relevant persons meeting target deadlines
Regular Contacts
Internal: All local departments and specifically operations. UK Operations Director and H&S Manager
External: HSE and other regulatory authorities pertaining to health, safety and environmental
Other Requirements
