Health and Safety Officer
£40000-45000 + great benefits
We have a great opportunity for a qualified Health and Safety Officer to join our Reading team in this newly created site-based role.
In this role you’ll be a critical member of the operational management team reporting to the General Manager. You’ll be conducting audits to identify areas that need attention and use your findings to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of site Health, Safety & Environment and Food Standards. This role does not have any direct reports but will work alongside Department Managers to ensure all requirements of the Health, Safety & Environment and Food Standards policies and standards are met. You’ll use your influencing skills and knowledge to support the depot management team, providing advice, support and guidance on Health and Safety policies to create a culture focused on health and safety in everything we do.
Together with our depot management team, you’ll identify and review compliance key performance indicators and suggest improvements and efficiencies to better meet business/legal requirements. You’ll ensure all Health & Safety, Environmental and Food Standards training is completed on time and in full, and report gaps and non-compliance to the General Manager, updating training system records accordingly.
To join us as a Health and Safety Officer you must have already obtained H&S qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate (training available for candidates with IOSH Certificate willing to upskill to meet the needs of the business). We’ll be looking for you to demonstrate that you are well organised with systematic approach capable of managing multiple projects and priorities. You’ll need the ability to use your excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to handle any conflict within a high-pressure environment.
