About the role
The company requires a Health and Safety Officer to join the Operations team to work across the group to develop a positive Health & Safety culture and develop world class standards. You will be expected to lead from the front and challenge existing procedures, introducing best practises across the company through communicating and delivering training in an engaging and motivational manner.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Help the development and implementation of the company’s Health and Safety Systems, policies and procedures, focusing on the prevention of incidents and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors to the company
- Regularly review internal health and safety policies and practices to ensure they are up to date with and conform to the latest regulatory and company developments, seeking out and implementing improvement opportunities
- Undertake, document and regularly review risk assessments required by the business
- Investigate incidents or accidents (recording incidents, near misses and first aid) and ensure proper records are completed and submitted to the relevant authorities
- Liaise with and support all departments as well as with regulatory bodies, external auditors and contractors.
- Assist with the design, implementation and coordination of all QHSE related initiatives for the business • Help provide detailed, competent and timely advice to department managers on all health and safety issues
- Identify any health and safety training requirements for employees. Coordinate training programs or media which will increase efficiency of safe practices and promote and reinforce health and safety culture
- Conduct internal audits of documented health and safety procedures
- Help the development and implementation of the company’s environmental policies and procedures, with the aim of the company working to the ISO 14001 standard
- Help ensure that the company complies with statutory environmental requirements
- Conduct regular inspections across our sites
- Encourage, monitor and police compliance to Health and Safety procedures
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Essential:
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications such as ISO9001, NEBOSH
- Up-to-date knowledge of ISO9001
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK HSE regulations and policies including OHSAS 18001
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001
- Experience in performing internal quality audits (ISO9001)
- Experience in performing internal health and safety audits (OHSAS 18001)
- Experience in a Quality, Health and Safety focused role • H&S Training experience
- Driving Licence
- Communication with internal and external stakeholder at all levels
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office
- Experience in performing internal health and safety audits (OHSAS 18001)
