Position Overview: We are looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead our efforts in maintaining high standards of Health and Safety across our operations (including at stakeholder sites). In this pivotal role, you will set the tone for safety culture, providing operational support and guidance to ensure compliance and promote best practices. The role will be remote but requires national travel (with a focus along the M1) on a weekly basis (typically 2-3 days in the field per week). As such, we will only be able to consider applicants that live close to the M1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion a proactive Health and Safety culture by leading by example and inspiring your team.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver effective H&S management tools and training.
- Oversee risk assessments and investigations into accidents and near-misses.
- Implement strategies for waste, energy, and water reduction to enhance environmental efficiency.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and internal customers.
What You Bring:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HSE leadership role.
- Proficient in MS Office/Teams and possess strong communication and influencing skills.
- Experience in improving processes and systems for effective outcomes.
- Experience of working in Transport, Logistics or similar industries.
- Knowledge of vehicle engineering and road transport law (desirable).
- NEBOSH Diploma and/or environmental qualifications (desirable).
Measures of Success:
- Achieving personal and team KPIs and objectives.
- Continuous improvement in Health and Safety engagement survey results.
- Successful closeout of audit findings and corrective actions.
