Huntapac Produce Ltd is a fourth generation family-owned business which was established in 1942. Nestled in a small village in the heart of Lancashire, we specialise in growing, packing and distributing a variety of root vegetables.

Supplying some of the major supermarkets in the UK as well as independent retailers, wholesalers, food service, caterers and food manufacturing sectors standards are consistently very high and a strong management team ensure these standards are maintained at all times. Family tradition and a commitment to quality are still as important today as they were 70 years ago. This heritage has passed down through generations of the Hunter family and ensures that Huntapac is supplying high quality produce whilst embracing a rapidly changing food market.

Overall Function

The H&S Manager ensures legal compliance for the organisation, (currently three divisions, agriculture, transport and production); whilst promoting a positive H&S culture across all divisions of the business. Ensuring full awareness of responsibilities and accountability within the departments and safeguarding the wellbeing of all staff and visitors on site.

Role – Daily duties to include

⁻ Develop and maintain an effective H&S management system for all divisions of the business.

⁻ Ensure H&S compliance with external audits.

⁻ Promote H&S culture across all sites with a clearly communicate H&S strategy.

⁻ Develop and co-ordinate departmental survey/audits, including liaising with external contractors as per schedule.

⁻ Monitor and advise on H&S strategy in relation to YOY figures and established KPIs.

⁻ Ensuring compliance with legislation and incorporate any updates in law into the health and safety policy

⁻ Undertake business risk analysis and risk assessments where required.

⁻ Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law

⁻ Proactively work towards reducing the number of health and safety incidents to a minimum

⁻ Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety.

⁻ Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.

⁻ Collate reports and accident stats, preparing reports of the data as required.

⁻ Use analytics, cultural and behavioural trends to implement business wide improvements.

⁻ Liaise with insurance company,

⁻ Undertake investigations for accidents or incidents to discover root cause analysis whilst recommending solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

⁻ Collaborate with all divisions to ensure a culture of H&S is central to our culture.

⁻ Undertake D&A tests for cause, suspicion or inline with company policy,

⁻ Ensure LOLER compliance throughout the organisation.

⁻ Manage the PPE allocation for the organisation.

⁻ Ensure that all work practices are completed within the Health & Safety legislation, compliant with the Health & Safety Act 1974 etc

Any other duties deemed necessary by the Head of Operations.
Full training will be provided for any new tasks that may be given / expected.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
