We are looking for a Principal Health & Safety Consultant within Health and Safety Consulting. The candidate must have good construction health and safety experience as well as CDM experience and be able to competently converse at a senior level with client contacts, taking the lead in situations to manage conflict and making sound and informed judgements.

The role will require providing Health & Safety consultancy services to clients and AECOM staff.

  • Prepare Safe Work Plans and assist AECOM design team in their implementation
  • Review risk assessment and method statements provided by subconsultants and subcontractors.
  • Providing point of contact for client(s) with regard to health and safety matters.
  • Ensuring AECOM QA and Health and Safety responsibilities are discharged
  • Provide Health and Safety monthly progress reports for the Client

  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Considers the needs of the audience and adapts communication appropriately
  • Takes ownership for delivering promises made, and will demonstrate personal commitment to achieving business results. Maintains effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks, change or pressure.
  • Seeks to build effective relationships within teams, across the organisation and externally. Understands the perspective of others and takes this into account in developing relationships. Seeks to manage conflict and is self-aware. Uses analysis of relevant information and own judgement to make informed and sound decisions.
  • Aware of the commercial environment of AECOM, the financial aspects of projects and their contribution to the success of the organisation.
  • Understands the need to provide quality services and seeks to evaluate these against agreed standards. Able to demonstrate how they have developed their own skills to support this.
  • Able to deploy plans that are appropriately comprehensive, realistic and effective in meeting personal, project and business goals.
Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of CDM 2015
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience in the production of Health and Safety related documents
  • Experience in industrial construction projects and H&S construction advice.
  • Good knowledge of construction processes
  • Excellent knowledge and use of MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified
  • Experience in design/construction
  • Experience in Health & Safety
  • NEBOSH General Certificate / Construction Certificate
  • Membership of Association for Project Safety
  • CMIOSH
  • NEBOSH Diploma (not essential)
