What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in Health and Safety or in a similar role. (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office packages. (Essential)
  • Experience in housing association or public sector (Desirable)
  • Working towards or willing to study NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent and chartered membership of the institute of Safety and Health (Desirable)
  • Qualification in NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or Construction Health and Safety (Essential)

A bit about the role:

As a Health & Safety Advisor, some of the key results for the role include:

Departmental Responsibilities:

  • To develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support safe employment and services.
  • To assess customers’ needs to ensure effective service delivery.
  • To advise and support customers in resolving their queries and issues, ensuring that their expectations are managed and proactive solutions are identified.
  • To maintain up to date health and safety systems and records which facilitate the accurate reporting of key performance information.
  • To ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to so that consistent and standard practice is achieved across the organisation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • To keep up to date with current health and safety issues, new regulations and legislation.
  • To provide proactive, timely, accurate and professional health and safety advice and guidance to customers and offer proactive solutions for their issues.
  • Support managers and employees in completing operational risk assessments and carry out specialist and organisational risk assessments as required.
  • Assist managers in identifying health and safety training needs and as appropriate facilitate the delivery of health and safety training directly or indirectly.
  • In partnership with managers and employees commission or carry out health and safety audits and safety inspections and support them in responding to recommendations.
  • Investigate work place accidents and incidents and report on findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of health and safety policies and procedures and ensure that they remain up to date and compliant with current legislation, regulations and industry best practise and embedded across the organisation.
  • Work in partnership with the HR team to support the health and wellbeing of employees.
  • Provide verbal or written health and safety briefings for managers and employees about current or newly arising issues.
  • Manage the lone worker monitoring system.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external health and safety group meetings.
  • Adhere to Peabody Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure, as far as is practicable, your own safety and that of others in the workplace. There may be a requirement to undertake specific Health and Safety roles such as Fire Warden or First Aider.

This role will require a Basic DBS check, Driving licence and access to vehicle for work.
