Full Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a SHEQ Officer, based in Fort William.

The candidate will be based at our Head Office in Corpach, Fort William and will report to the Head of SHEQ. They will be responsible for the day to day monitoring of Health & Safety operations throughout the entire business, therefore travelling and overnight stays will be required to fulfil this role.

The role will include, but is not confined to:

  • Undertake safety inspections of all depots/yards within Ferguson Transport premises (including Kishorn, Invergordon and Grangemouth)
  • Interface with our port and pier operations and with our DPA for marine and port activities
  • Keep abreast of any changes or amendments to SHEQ or Corporate Social Responsibilities legislation and communicate these to staff members when required
  • Undertake annual audits of the Health & Safety inspections
  • Review risk assessments and Health & Safety policy annually
  • Prepare new safety/working procedures for all aspects of the business when required

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working in Health & Safety or a similar role
  • NEBOSH General Certification as a minimum
  • Strong IT skills in Microsoft applications and happy to learn/develop IT skill
  • Good communication skills, with a flexible approach to work
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
