The Role

The HSEQ Advisor will provide HSEQ advice, guidance and support to Project teams and other departments as well as being the focal point for the client on all HSEQ matters, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of project workscopes. This will include leading and implementation of key risk management processes, including continual monitoring of ongoing operations to ensure compliance with internal processes, industry best practice, legislative and client specific requirements. The HSEQ Advisor will actively monitor HSEQ performance, identifying trends and develop proactive or reactive safety initiatives where required. The role will be based remotely with some requirement for travel and offshore work.

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor that can come in and hit the ground running, ideally with a good level of experience in a related industry / offshore operations in the subsea sector.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide HSEQ advice, guidance and support to projects, departments, worksites and subcontractor personnel, ensuring compliance with internal processes, legislative, industry best practice and client specific requirements
  • Encourage and promote a positive attitude towards HSE awareness and risk management, including reporting of HSE issues and communication of and participation in behavioural based safety programs.
  • Assist in the development of HSEQ objectives and the review and revision of HSEQ related processes and procedures at a corporate level.
  • Develop and implement relevant project HSEQ documentation including Emergency Response, Bridging Documents, HSEQ Plans and ensure that this is in compliance with the HSEQ Management System.
  • Advise project personnel on all aspects of QA / QC.
  • Monitor effectiveness of project HSEQ throughout the project life cycle.
  • Responsible for early engagement with the engineering process, attending methodology and operations reviews and identifying opportunities to eliminate risk where possible.
  • Develop Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment documents and participate in meetings.
  • Identify and advise on project specific training requirements.
  • Implement environmental procedures and work within environmental licences, ensuring all environmental aspects have been identified and mitigation plans have been put in place.
  • Implement occupational health procedures, ensuring OH aspects have been identified and mitigation plans have been put in place.
  • Carry out incident investigation as required.
  • Ensure all non-conformances are managed effectively and assist with investigations into Quality related incidents.
  • Monitor customer feedback / complaints.
  • Carry out corporate and project HSEQ audits / site visits, preparation of project specific audit schedules and terms of reference where relevant, reporting audits / inspections and follow up to ensure effective closure of findings identified.
  • Liaise with the client on project HSEQ matters, includes chairing regular HSEQ engagement meetings.
  • Work with Supply Chain in the appraisal and auditing of critical suppliers.
  • Liaison with Project Management and Supply Chain in the monitoring of supplier performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised HSEQ qualification, NEBOSH NGC or equivalent, Trade / Technical Qualification.
  • Good level of experience in a related industry.
  • Experience of offshore operations in the subsea sector.
  • An excellent working knowledge of UK HSE and Marine legislation, and how this is applied within an operational setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of risk assessment techniques, and implementation of those.
  • Formal auditing qualification with experience in carrying out audits, both internally and externally (ISO 9001, 14001 and / or 45001).
  • Formal incident investigation training with experience in participating in incident investigations and sharing or implementation of lessons learned.
  • Fully conversant in HSEQ Management Systems.
  • A strong track record in HSEQ delivery, with proven skills to develop and maintain HSEQ systems, procedures, processes and programs.
