Deverell Smith have partnered with a national student accommodation developer to find a professional who will be responsible for embedding a Health & Safety culture, and ensuring that colleagues at all levels understand what Health & Safety compliance means to them, and how they can positively impact this at the location they work at.
This position is an integral part of the Facilities Management team to work across the groups national, diverse portfolio of properties and work with the operational leaders to develop a deep understanding and knowledge of the buildings and the Health & Safety challenges that each location faces.
Legislation and Best Practice
Act as the subject matter expert for Health & Safety. Ensure that the group remains up to date and at the forefront of any changes to legislation or best practice. Owner for Health & Safety related policies and processes ensuring these are updated with any changes and communicated to colleagues, as required, through appropriate channels.
Compliance
Champion Health & Safety compliance across the group ensuring that appropriate mechanisms are in place to support leaders to self-audit and support with ensuring timely completion of actions to achieve compliance. Responsible for the delivery of overall ‘one team’ group health and safety compliance.
Risk Management
Owner for risk assessments and management ensuring that appropriate assessments are in place with follow up actions to manage and mitigate any risk to the organisation and colleagues.
Colleague Wellbeing
Support the launch and embedding of colleague and student wellbeing initiatives to drive cultural change and highlight the impact wellbeing can have on Health & Safety.
Contractors
Ensure that all service providers working across the portfolio adhere to a high level of Health & Safety and are compliant in all aspects of their activities.
Health and Safety Culture
Work with colleagues to embed an understanding of what ‘great’ Health & Safety looks likes. Create an environment for colleagues to identify and escalate any Health & Safety issues, propose solutions to prevent accidents, take action and initiate repairs as required. Work towards eliminating any risk within the locations.
Training
Work with leaders and Training & Development Manager to ensure that appropriate health and safety training is designed and delivered to colleagues based on the need for their role. Support with embedding a culture of mandatory Health & Safety training compliance.
Reporting
Provide regular compliance and status updates to stakeholders and the board regarding Health & Safety
Remuneration:
£70,000-£75,000
