Our Head of Health and Safety is currently recruiting for an outstanding Health and Safety Manager to join their highly experienced and skilled team and help us drive a high standard of Health and Safety across our Depots in Region 10.
The Depots this role will support are; Newcastle, Tyneside, Durham, Teesside, York, Carnforth, Preston and Carlisle, so you must be able to travel to these locations.
Your other key responsibilities will include:
Work with Managers across the business to promote, regulate and manage a high standard of health & safety awareness/culture within the DPD Network in order to fully achieve compliance with legislation and the strategic direction of the company Supporting and advising sites in achieving compliance to health and safety legislation and effective reporting Supporting sites with incident investigation and carrying out investigations of major incidents Working with sites to write and develop risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Standard Operating Procedures in line with needs of the Depot Operations Undertake Quarterly inspections of all depots in your Region Work collaboratively within Health and Safety Team to deliver progress towards the key Health and Safety Projects Drive positive cultural change through employee consultation and engagement programs by working with Unions and employee representatives Attendance at site and Regional Meetings.
Undertake any reasonable additional tasks as directed by Head of Health and Safety Qualifications What we are looking for; To be considered for this role ideally you will be NCRQ Qualified or hold the NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent along with a sound practical knowledge of the application of Health and Safety Legislation and Standards is essential for this role.
Please note that if you do not hold this qualification then you will be expected to gain the qualification once in post.
Your career history will clearly demonstrate proven experience within Health and Safety Management, preferably gained within a Large Scale or National warehousing, engineering or transport environment.
Due to the size of our operation the ability to work collaboratively and supportively within the team is critical.
You will possess excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to adapt and respond to situations quickly.
Your strong problem resolution, negotiation and decision-making skills will be fully utilised in this role.
You will be comfortable working on your own initiative with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage your time.
You will have strong IT, Project Management and report writing skills.
Strong presentation skills would be desirable but not essential.
