Health and Safety investigating after man dies at a construction site in Lincoln

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are carrying out an initial investigation after a man died at a construction site in Lincoln.

Emergency services called to Lidum construction site

Emergency services were called to the scene at Lindum Construction’s site off Rudgard Lane at 10.48am on Thursday, January 9th. Unfortunately, the 23-year old man from Nottingham died at the scene.

He was employed by Chesterfield-based subcontractor Melfort Construction Services Ltd and was working at a location where university accommodation is being built on the site of a former garage.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We are now working with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident.”

Lindum Group company secretary Herman Kok said: “We are extremely sad that an employee of one of our sub-contractors has lost his life following an incident on one of our construction sites.

“Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this awful time.

“We will be working closely with the HSE and emergency teams as they carry out their investigations into the tragic event and we will be supporting Lindum employees and other site personnel who have been affected.

“The victim was an employee of Melfort Construction Services Ltd, a civil engineering specialist based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.”
