We’re looking for a Building Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team in order to co-ordinate, support and advise our Charity on all aspects relating to Building Safety and Compliance across our nation-wide property portfolio, which comprises 13 retirement villages and 3 housing schemes. This is a full-time role that will be primarily location based, 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis, and in return you will receive a competitive salary of £36,000, plus car allowance of £3,500pa , and benefits which include;

As our Building Safety and Compliance Officer, You’ll be ensuring our homes are not only safe and legally compliant, but also high-quality environments where our residents want to live. You’ll identify opportunities to improve the safety of our locations, with a particular focus on fire safety and the impact of recent changes in legislation..
Responsibilities of our Building Safety and Compliance Officer:
- Reviewing and ensuring all building safety cases include the relevant body of evidence and H&S files
- Supporting the business and development colleagues to ensure that new Villages are built within building safety compliance and legislation
- Paying attention to risks associated with being a landlord
- Liaising with the Regulator, HSE, and any other relevant body on any incident or project as required
- Carrying out quality checks, visits, and inspections of relevant buildings as required
- Organising resident meetings as required to ensure residents are fully informed on risks, services, and any impending works or outstanding actions
- Leading on ExtraCare’s digital transformation in regard to Asset Management Data and Building Safety/Compliance
- Ensuring that safety inspections are carried out
- Assisting in the baselining of carbon reporting categories
- What we’re looking for in our Building Safety and Compliance Officer:
- To proactively co-ordinate, support and advise the organisation, on all aspects with regards to Building Safety and Compliance with a specific focus on the following areas: – Gas, Electrical, Water, Asbestos, Lifts & lifting equipment, and Fire Safety.
- Relevant Training/Accreditations in a building engineering/Property Compliance (fire safety) discipline
- At least 5 GCSE passes at Grade “C” or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English
- Proven knowledge of IT using MS Office Suite, in particular, Excel
- Excellent administrative experience and report writing skills
- Ability to comprehend legislative updates and adapt processes accordingly
- Knowledge of Housing
- Able to deliver basic presentations to a mixed audience using PowerPoint
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
- Confidence to communicate with Senior Managers and Professionals
Our ideal candidate?
You’ll be NEBOSH qualified and hold a relevant accreditation in building engineering/property compliance or have significant knowledge of working within the social housing or facilities maintenance sector.
