Full Job Description
Oregon Timber Frame (“OTF”) are a division of Barratt Developments. We specialise in the design, manufacture, supply and erection of structural timber frames to all divisions across the Group.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will provide support and assistance to the Health & Safety Manager to ensure that all Oregon Health & Safety standards are being achieved on our construction sites.
What Will I be Responsible for?
- Conduct site audits to monitor the Health & Safety standards on each site, identify any breaches and prepare a list of improvement actions. Prepare audit reports and then monitor to ensure that the required improvement actions are completed
- Induct new start erectors in the “Oregon Way” to ensure that they understand the risks, methods and standards expected when working on an Oregon site
- Check the qualifications of erectors on site to ensure they meet or exceed the minimum standards required to work on an Oregon site
- Carry out training and toolbox talks to educate erectors and ensure they understand the standards expected
- Complete accident investigation reports on behalf of the Health & Safety Manager
- Prepare and alter RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) on behalf of the Health & Safety Manager
- Assist the Health & Safety Manager as required with any other documentation, administration, training and projects. This may include assisting with Health and Safety within any of the Oregon Timber Frame factories
What you’ll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Able to demonstrate education to a good standard – preferably to higher education or above.
- Hold or working towards a NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Full current driving licence and use of a personal car for work related usage. The car must be insured for business use.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Self-motivated and positive attitude.
- Highly numerate and literate.
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and any other software required for the role, e.g. iAuditor and Sharepoint.
- Good communication skills and able to deal with site erect teams, colleagues, senior management and customers.
- Able and willing to work flexibly. This may involve working different hours/days and travel away from home.
DESIRABLE SKILLS (training can be provided if required)
- Strong working knowledge of joinery and timber frame erect sequences.
- Experience of supervising or managing people.
- A sound appreciation of Health & Safety practices on site (e.g. risk assessments, accident investigations, induction and training etc).
- Experience of working with cranes to erect timber frame kits.
QUALIFICATIONS
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- CSCS card – professional level.
