Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for coordinating, supporting and advising the College on all aspects in regards to Health & Safety. You will be tasked with establishing and monitoring standards, processes, communications and training in order to make sure health & safety standards remain high.
Responsibilities:
- Providing training to support on all matters of Health & Safety
- Taking responsibility for fire drills and fire alarms
- Responsible for site security
- Undertaking risk assessments and accident investigations
- Managing all health, safety and environmental aspects within large manufacturing site and reporting directly to Operations Manager
- Carry out training and inductions on site
- Writing and implementing procedures
- Experience in occupational environment health is mandatory in this position
- Ensure that all Health, Safety, Environment, COSHH and fire safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
- Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business
- Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters
- Ensure that all incidents are documented investigated and recommended improvements implemented, and ensure compliance with all external HSE/COSHH reporting requirements
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
Requirements:
- At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in a similar role, experience in a scientific setting is preferred.
- Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (MIOSH)
