About the Role

Working as part of a professional Health Safety and Environment Team this is a key and exciting opportunity to engage and advise stakeholders to create and maintain a safe working environment. This includes supporting and advising on relevant legislation, industry best practice enabling any risk to be managed and controlled, and any incident and accidents which are appropriate are reported to the HSE under the RIDDOR Regulations.

Reporting to the Head of Health Safety and Environment you will also monitor Health Safety and Environmental performance by undertaking audits and reviewing reported incident accident and near misses to identify trends so that lessons can be learnt and used to improve standards and performance.

The post is based at home ideally in Scotland with regular travel to support our services and offices throughout in Scotland and Northern Ireland and on some occasions to our other services in UK when required.

About You

We are seeking a Health Safety and Environment Adviser who has a genuine understanding and commitment to apply professional skills and knowledge to advise on the management of risks with control measures which are appropriate and proportionate.

You will be an effective communicator who will be able to work on your own on occasions providing Health Safety and Environmental advice to our stakeholders which is clear and easy to follow. In addition, you must be able to liaise with Health Safety and Environmental regulators when required.

Checking Health Safety and Environmental performance through auditing and reviewing incidents and accidents you will have experience of using word, excel or equivalent software to draft reports of the information which has been gathered.

With strong organisational and planning skills you will work closely across a range of stakeholders including Regional Managers, Service Managers, Property Compliance and Quality Improvement teams to build partnerships to ensure that a safe working environment is achieved.

You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to continuous professional development and will have already achieved your NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum, so that you are a member of IOSH at Technical Level

Ideally you will have also achieved your NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent or started to work towards this qualification.

Based at home you will be happy on occasions to visit locations which will require a stay away from home overnight and work flexible hours.
