The health and safety adviser will be responsible for keeping people safe at a corporate and property level, develop policies and procedures to make sure people aren’t harmed by their jobs, investigate and report accidents, develop and undertake property level health and safety audits to enable reporting to Greystar’s business leaders. They will also take responsibility for health-related projects, such as organizing talks and training for staff.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will be self-driven and passionate about health and safety – risk management. Working closely with the Director of Health and Safety, they will be 25% corporate and 75% site based, working across Greystar’s growing UK property portfolio.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Investigating incidents and undertaking lessons learnt analysis.
  • Carrying out audits and internal risk assessments across the UK.
  • Compiling H&S compliance statistics and writing reports.
  • Write and review policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Running health and safety toolbox meetings and training courses for employees.
  • Liaising with external health and safety authorities.
  • Managing and training internal safety courses.
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Or similar).
  • City & Guilds / PTLLS – ”Train the trainer (e.g. Manual handling).
  • IOSH Managing safely (and/or), IOSH Managing safely in construction.

Experience and Training:

Essential

  • Proven Health and Safety experience 5 years.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and target orientated.
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with cost management/project management software.
  • The ability to work both autonomously and within a team.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the property industry is preferred but not essential, however and understanding of statutory maintenance within the property industry will be an advantage for candidates.
