Food and Business Group

Environmental and Public Protection Group

We are looking for an excellent and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer with a drive for improvement.

You’ll be someone who thinks in terms of solutions and is focused on your own professional improvement and others. You’ll be pragmatic and have fantastic people skills to compliment your excellent or developing technical knowledge in Environmental Health. If you’re recently qualified then what you lack in experience, you’ll make up in enthusiasm and commitment to improving your skillset and contributing to the service. In return, you’ll be supported in your development and have the opportunity to work with like minded professionals and to bring your ideas to the group and the wider service.

You’ll be joining either a multidisciplinary group of professionals delivering the full range of Food and Business regulation, or a group of professionals delivering environmental regulation and public health protection in the areas of noise & vibration, nuisance, fly tipping, air quality and contaminated land with major developments in progress. Both have the capacity to support the other groups in Environmental Health.

As a key individual in Environmental Health, you’ll show commitment to professional development. You’ll also strive to deliver the best service in the nation and support the Council strategic priorities to improve the lives of residents.

West Dunbartonshire is a fantastic place to work and we welcome applications from qualified Environmental Health Officers holding the REHIS Diploma in Environmental Health or its equivalent

Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to complete a Basic Disclosure check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are “spent” under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
