Duration: Permanent, Full Time
Job Purpose:
The post holder will assist in the management of asbestos within the Council’s housing stock. This will involve arranging asbestos management and refurbishment & demolition surveys to be undertaken and thereafter the analyse of reports and implementation of actions to enable asbestos to be managed in line with current legislation, ACC asbestos policy and HSE guidance.
In addition, the post holder will inform relevant staff and clients of findings contained within asbestos reports and arranging for the removal, encapsulation and re-inspections as deemed necessary.
Requirements
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
sound knowledge of and hold current Asbestos certification:
- The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
- HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide
- BOHS Proficiency Module P402
show the commitment to work towards the following certification :
- BOHS Proficiency Module P405
The post holder needs to have a working knowledge of:
- HSG247: The Licensed Contractors Guide
- HSG248: The analysts’ Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures
- General building trades and construction techniques
The post holder must have an awareness of the requirements of:
- BOHS Proficiency Module P406
- BOHS S301 Asbestos and Other Fibres
Responsibilities
The post holder is expected to demonstrate:
Skills & experience in:
- Deal with a wide range of clients from a range of services and backgrounds
- Deal with a range of property professionals and contractors (including contributing to contract monitoring meetings)
- Use job related data-bases and systems to a competent level
- Use all standard MS office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook) to a competent level
- Strong Communication skills
- Experienced negotiator
Understanding of:
- Health and safety Legislation
- Risk management
- Best value within a public sector environment
Commitment to:
- The principles and aims of Aberdeen City Council
- Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Other Requirements:
- The ability to travel to locations around the city to meet the requirements of the role
