Job Description

Midlothian Council are seeking to recruit Testing Site Operatives to deliver the coronavirus community testing programme. The role will guide those wishing to participate in testing through the process and will process the test samples and record results.

The Community Testing Programme is designed to help reduce community transmission of the coronavirus virus and this post will be key in achieving that aim. The Test Centre will operate from a variety of locations across Midlothian on a rolling programme.

The role has five areas of responsibilities: Queue Coordination, Registration Assistance, Test Assistance, Processing Operations and Recording Results. Postholders  will be expected to become proficient in all roles.

The person must be willing to undertake training which will be provided.

Requirements

To undertake this role you should be able to demonstrate experience in a fast paced, customer facing environment, working with members of the public.

Experience in understanding and working to Standard Operating Procedures and follow strict guidelines and procedures is required.

The post requires high attention to detail and strong time keeping skills.

Data recording is an integral part and the postholder must be confident in using digital technology to record results.

In addition the ability to work flexibly and undertake duties relating to any on the five areas of responsibility is required.

Accuracy and consistency are key and therefore strong attention to detail and communication skills are necessary.

Other Information

Posts will operate on a casual basis for a period of up to 26 weeks, with test sites operating on varying hours and days covering the period 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days per week.

Shifts may vary over 5 days and can be full-time (8 hours per day) or part-time.

The hourly rate for this post is £14.91.

 

CLOSING DATE:  The closing date for last application is 01 May 2021. 

We are seeking to recruit postholders with immediate effect as initial training is scheduled for week commencing 12 April 2021.

INTERVIEW DATE:  Interviews for the first Community Testing site will take place week commencing 12 April 2021.
