The story of the Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company blends the new with the old. We are recruiting for a Head of Health, Safety and Environment to join our organisation. This will be a key appointment for us, coming at a critical time in the evolution of the organisation as we integrate 2 outstanding organisations into one. If you are looking for an opportunity that will leverage your experience, where you can layout a programme that will build a legacy within an organisation – this is the perfect opportunity for you. To be successful you will radiate a passion for the agenda, getting your energy from working with teams on the ground rather than from behind your desk. You will need to combine your deep functional expertise with the ability to deliver real behaviour change across more than 2000 colleagues working in our Breweries, Depots, Field Teams, and offices.

Reporting to the VP Production but with responsibility across the whole organisation, this role will ensure that all of Carlsberg Marston’s Environment, Health and Safety standards and methods, tools and processes are soundly implemented, and that our teams are engaged in the ongoing task of creating a safe, healthy workplace that protects the environments and communities where we operate.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Diagnosing the key priorities for the organisation and building a pragmatic plan to reduce risk and develop safety culture, leveraging resource where you need it to deliver the plan.
  • With your team, engage heads, hearts and hands across the organisation – unlocking and sustaining behaviour change.
  • As the organisation expert – be responsible for all safety, health and environment management systems and activities at all Carlsberg Marston’s sites, whilst ensuring any legislative/compliance changes are well communicated in the organisation.
  • Build the capability of the organisation through coaching and training of leaders and their teams
  • Active member of the Western Europe and Global Carlsberg EHS community – supporting and deploying the Global strategy at UK market level
  • Fostering a continuous improvement culture by ensuring lessons are learned from any incident or near miss through the involvement of colleagues, managers and leaders.
  • Be a key participant in our Supply Chain Senior Management Teams playing a role outside of your functional area of expertise.

Experience and Key Attributes required:

  • Extensive experience in a similar position in the Supply Chain/FMCG industry and ideallyhold a NEBOSH Diploma as a minimum, with a degree in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), or a combination of education in EHS with previous experience in the Supply Chain industry
  • Highly credible and able to collaborate, engage and inspire colleagues in all functions and at every level of the organisation from Front Line Team to Executive Team
  • Experience of what excellence looks like
  • Displaying a bias for action based on clear and pragmatic thinking.
  • Passion and integrity – drives and lives our winning behaviors
  • Experience of leading and managing a team of EHS professionals
  • Ability to think strategically and build long term strategic plans that can be executed in the short term.
  • Never satisfied – constant improvement and opportunity focused
  • Leads through others / teams and stays calm under pressure

On top of the culture and career development opportunities that make working with us so rewarding, we’ll also give you flexible benefits including a generous bonus scheme and private medical insurance. So, what are you waiting for? Apply today and a member of the recruitment team will be in touch!
