The Position
The Health & Safety Advisor will visit construction sites and developments and integrate with the site teams to provide support and advice to all departments across the group. You will work closely with the site teams to ensure that they are all compliant with current health, safety legislation through the implementation of the Galliard procedures.
• Conduct site health & safety inspections and audits assisting, if required with any rectifications monitoring close out actions as well as reviewing induction programmes, toolbox talks and briefings.
• Develop and log reports based on the results of their site safety inspections or safety audits. Making sure any reportable incidents have been raised to the Health and Safety Manager.
• Monitor safety training needs liaising with the Training Administrator when developing, procuring and/or delivering training programmes
• Assist Site Managers with the review of company and contractors risk assessments and method statements checking for improvements and compliance
• Prepare legislation updates and advisory memos
• Assist in the preparation of Construction Phase Plans
• Investigate and report findings of accidents and incidents to include improvement recommendations
• Carry out Management System audits at our sites and hub offices to ensure compliance to company health, safety, quality & environmental procedures.
The Person
Essential:
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Demonstrable knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation
• Solid understanding of construction processes with a methodical approach to duties.
• Previous experience dedicated to health & safety in construction.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Awareness of behavioural safety approaches to successful health & safety management
