One Scientific is looking for Health & Safety Officer to run the health & safety systems for the microbiology, molecular and chemical laboratories based in Avonmouth, Bristol.
The Health and Safety Officer will have sound knowledge of health & safety business requirements through previous experience in a similar role or training.
They will report directly to the Head of Compliance Systems but will be supported by, and liaise regularly with, the Tentamus Group Safety Manager.
Key responsibilities:
– Responsible for the creation and review of risk assessments, COSHH and identifying potential hazards
– Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are investigated
– Responsible for the Health and Safety induction procedures for staff, visitors and contractors
– Responsible for organising sufficient First Aid cover, Fire Warden and other training as required by the business
– Responsible for building, facility and equipment servicing and calibrations through subcontractors i.e. gas fire & security, PAT testing, refrigeration
– Liaise with the Management team to continually improve the working environment
Key skills and attributes
-Relevant qualification (IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent)
-Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations and laws
-Computer literate (MS applications)
-Strong analytical and problem solving skills
-High attention to detail
-Excellent communication skills
-Independent worker capable of using own initiative
A background in manufacturing, production or similar would be ideal
