About the role
The role holder is responsible for providing competent H&S advice, support and assistance, across Dyson’s EMEA locations, although the large majority of this role with be within the UK, including oversight of UK RDD. This role will include managing and mentoring a team of H&S Advisors.
This role will also be responsible for operational H&S support within our Retail and Service Centre locations, in partnership with the Global Senior H&S Manager (Retail, Service Centres and Events).
The role holder will also be a member of the global Safety Leadership Team and will contribute to and implement the Global H&S strategy within this area of responsibility, and wider (as required).
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
In the context of the scope of this role:
• Be the subject matter expert / primary point of contact, for all operational H&S management enquiries, advice, support, training, coaching and incidents. This will be enhanced through frequent and effective engagement & communication with the relevant management teams. Key topics of this role will cover, (but will not be limited) to:
• Ensuring H&S considerations are established throughout the selection and use of third party contractors, including supporting CDM (or equivalent)/Project works.
• Provide oversight assurance of the permit to work process.
• Implementation of environmental initiatives.
• Providing H&S support to insurance claims.
• H&S Oversight of the Dyson Institute of Engineering Technology.
• Control of hazardous substances, Electrical Safety, Management of Asbestos, Compliance/Inspection Inspections, Return to work assessments, PEEPS, DSE/Workstation Assessments, Fire Safety Management, Provision of First Aid, Awareness training, LOLER, Manual Handling, New & Expectant mothers, General site safety (in particular the interaction between vehicles and pedestrians), Working at height, Energy storage, Laboratories and workshops, Occupational Health & Hygiene, LEV systems, Pressure vessels, Radiation, Vibration, PUWER Work experience/young people, Inductions.
• Maintain a comprehensive H&S and Environmental Gap Analysis and improvement plan (With a particular focus on statutory compliance and Dyson H&S Standards).
• Partner with internal and external auditors/inspectors to ensure that support is provided to facilitate the close out of H&S actions.
• Partner with the Global Head of Fire Safety to ensure a robust approach to fire life safety is adopted throughout.
• Support through partnering, the capital project process to ensure that H&S matters are identified and considered at an early stage in the project. Ensuring operational H&S requirements are in place for all workplace projects.
• Liaise with the People function and our external occupational Health provider on all Occupational Health issues and advising on referrals.
• Support and evolve the range of H&S committees and leadership meetings
• Monitor all related H&S incidents. Provide assistance and support to managers and where necessary personally investigate serious H&S incidents to identify underlying causes; recording findings and recommendations.
• H&S objectives, targets, policies, processes, procedures or standards.
• Leading and lagging measurements on H&S performance, providing insight from data and measuring performance against industry indices and best practice. Provide internal and external reporting as required.
• H&S business cases, papers and technical analysis in support of governance requirements.
Experience:
• 5 years (min) experience preferably within a fast paced, and evolving workplace.
• Understanding of H&S legal frameworks in within EMEA, and have the ability and resourcefulness to determine the practical application of the requirements.
• Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with enforcement officers.
• Languages:
• English (essential).
Qualifications / Professional Memberships:
• Educated to degree level.
• A recognised H&S qualification*
(At least level 5, preferably level 6).
• Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (CMIOSH) (or equivalent)*
• European Occupational Safety and Health Manager (EurOSHM) (Desirable).
• Demonstrable continuing professional development (CPD). – Or actively working towards for exceptional candidates with significant experience and/or qualification.

• Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections both internally and externally.
• Ability to work sensitively, discretely, and effectively across Dyson.
• Must demonstrate a passion for working for Dyson.
