As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the overall Health and Safety standards in our warehouse and office, while also embedding a culture of continuous improvement to help ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Primary responsibilities:

• Develop and ensure that safe operating practices, with safety policies and procedures, are in place, demonstrated as suitable, sufficient, audited, updated, and communicated.
• Create a strong behavioural safety culture where health and safety issues are reported, investigated and addressed and employees are actively supported and encouraged to improve health and safety.
• Plan and strategise work systems around reducing health and safety risks, e.g. recommending suitable adaptations to processes.
• Ensure Accidents and Near Misses are investigated to root cause. Proactively ensure timely completion of corrective actions plans with managers. Ensure that risk assessments are completed, actioned and are live and relevant
• Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for health and safety statistics.
• Guide and advise the management team to maintain statutory compliance and continued safety performance.
• Assist and progress issues with regulatory authorities and insurers on key matters, including Fire Risk Assessments and Certification, RIDDOR reporting, Emergency Planning
• Conduct routine reviews of training requirements across site to ensure the site and staff are operating in a safe and responsible manner.
• Ensure regulatory and ACOP compliance in all areas e.g. PUWER, LOLER, COSHH
• Keep abreast of developments and legislative changes through continuous personal development.

Skills required:

• Must hold NEBOSH Certificate
• Desirable to have or be working towards NEBOSH Diploma
• Strong level of experience in food/drink manufacturing environments or similar FMCG environment – Brewery experience preferred
• Worked within the boundaries of ISO accreditations and be able to lead in our journey to our accreditation to ISO 45001.
• Resilient and operate well under pressure.
• Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities and workload
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• An in-depth understanding of essential/relevant EU and UK health and safety legislation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google apps (Gmail, drive, sheets, etc.)
