Role Profile
ZSL has an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to manage the health and safety function at ZSL London Zoo. The successful candidate will report into the ZSL Health and Safety Manager and will work closely with the wider estates department and stakeholders at London Zoo to ensure that health and safety is embedded into ZSL’s culture

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide advice to internal stakeholders to ensure health and safety is embedded into all areas of the Society.
Lead the investigation of incidents, reporting and liaising with the relevant enforcing authority.
Identify, develop and review policies and procedures as required.
Lead the proactive management plan for health and safety including audits, workplace inspections, playground inspections etc. providing data on compliance and other activities.
Own the emergency response framework working closely with the internal stakeholders to ensure that emergency response plans are tested and any actions followed up.
Work with the Technical, Compliance and Sustainability Advisor to support activities including the management of statutory inspections, legionella, asbestos, EMS etc.
Work with the Project Health and Safety Advisor to support the health and safety project process and ensure effective management of contractors.
Provide training for first aid, develop and deliver other relevant face to face training and e-learning as required.
Provide silver command including out of hours on a rota basis.
Support any administrative requirements for risk meetings, safety steering group meetings and raising of purchase orders as required.
Person Specification
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
A good understanding of health and safety in a complex and dynamic setting
Recent experience of developing and delivering training in person and e-content
An ability to manage competing priorities and delegate effectively is essential
Excellent customer care and communication skills
Able to work evening and weekends as required
