Arconic is currently in search of a Health & Safety Advisor to join our EHS Team at Arconic Manufacturing (GB) in Kitts Green, Birmingham. The role will be focused on internal health programs and exposure controls related to health of employees, such as noise reduction, respiratory protection, asbestos, heat stress, and other workplace stressors.

The role reports to the EHS Manager, workig alongside colleagues focused on safety, energy, enviromental management and Cccupational Health. The team is responsible for designing and implementing programs of compliance and risk reduction across a busy and varied manufacturing enviroment producing engineered aluminium plate.

The successful candidate will:

Primary Responsibilities

OverSea program elements which relateDesign exposure sampling plans for delivery inhouse and/or with external resources
develop strategies, practices and procedures that reduce risk, add layers of protection, and improve health performance at Arconic Manufacturing (GB) Ltd., and be integral in their implementation.
Monitoring and maintenance of existing controls to ensure their sustainable and effective application.
Their work will focus on:

Key Objectives

Oversee program elements which relate to the reduction and control of employee exposure, maintaining those programs and where necessary work with other stakeholders to strengthen controls and/or implement new controls
develop strategies, practices and procedures that reduce risk, add layers of protection, and improve health performance at Arconic Manufacturing (GB) Ltd., and be integral in their implementation.
Monitoring and maintenance of existing controls to ensure their sustainable and effective application.
Assist with developing and undertaking, either in-house or with external resource, exposure monitoring assessments including but not limited to noise exposure assessments and inhalation exposure assessments.
Assess the effectiveness of existing controls measures to ensure their sustainable and effective application and where required take a lead to develop further control measures in order to reduce risk levels in line with best available techniques.
Generate, update and review the site risk assessments, COSHH assessments and practices and procedures that reduce risk, add layers of protection, and improve health performance at Arconic Manufacturing (GB) Ltd and be integral in their implementation.
Assist the EHS team in all areas of health and safety management
Their work will focus on:

Key Objectives

Monitor, measure and assess the risks to employee health and the environment
Report the risk levels to the EHS team and management/directors of the business
Organise and implement change in line with best working practices in order to reduce the level of risk to employee health and the environment and re-assess the risks to confirm that the changes have been effective.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

Degree level education or equivalent in Health & Safety or Industrial/Occupational Hygiene

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

2+ years experience of Health & Safety delivery, specifically within health-focused programs and/or Occupational Hygiene, ideally within a manufacturing environment
Experience of working across all levels of a manufacturing business or similar large organization
Proven track record of successful project delivery
Track record of influencing, and leading without authority
Ability to take initiative, and meet deadlines
Ability to work solo, and within team environments
High degree of computer literacy
Good verbal and written communication skills
BOHS AFOH membership with 2-3 modules completed
Membership of H&S relevant professional association (eg NEBOSH, BOHS, etc)
