We are looking for a motivated person with a, preferably, scientific background to join us to support the Health and Safety Department within a role that covers not only general health and safety but also radiation protection. The post holder will act as the University’s facefit tester, to comply with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, as well as support the management and investigation of accidents reported using our bespoke online system. They will also support the Radiation Protection Unit with the programme of radiation instrument testing and other tasks, such as the management of RETAIN, the University’s electronic system for recording the receipt, holding and disposal of radioactive materials. Although full training will be given in all of the technical tasks of the position, the post holder needs to bring enthusiasm and possess good organisational skills.

This post would be suitable for anyone with an interest health and safety who may have a laboratory or scientific background.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Motivated and enthusiastic
Interested in health and safety legislation
HND/C in Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience
Organised and able to manage own day to day schedule
Full clean driving licence
