More about your role
Due to impending retirement we are looking for a new Director of Health, Safety and Property Compliance to work within our Affordable Housing business, a group of six landlords who collectively own and manage more than 71,000 homes. Our vision is to create and maintain neighbourhoods that are modern, relevant and fit for the future, providing a service that enables our customers to live their best lives. We are working to do that while providing a friendly, proactive and ‘people first’ customer experience and safe, efficient services providing value for money.
As the Director of Health, Safety and Property Compliance you will provide leadership in driving a safety culture within our businesses and ensure that we meet all applicable statutory requirements. Ensuring robust auditing processes are in place to assure compliance to legislative requirements including statutory landlord H&S legislation
You will have oversight of, and drive a coordinated approach to, two key areas; the health and safety of our people and the effectiveness of our policies and practices to ensure our properties are compliant with the relevant regulations and therefore safe for our customers.
You will help to drive continuous improvement in our approach to health, safety and compliance, working with the Group’s Health & Safety function being the single point of contact for reporting, policy development and performance monitoring.

More about you
The ideal candidate will be CMIOSH and able to demonstrate competency against the IOSH Competency Framework. You will possess detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements for residential homes. You will have operated at a senior manager level and be comfortable both managing a team of compliance experts and providing strategic leadership in relation to health & safety.
Previous experience of managing teams who are responsible for safety inspection processes and procedures across residential housing portfolios including risk assessments (e.g. fire safety, asbestos management, gas etc.) is essential. You will have a working knowledge of Social Housing Policy and Practice and the relevant regulatory framework in England and Scotland. To be successful you will be analytical, with project management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, networks & partnerships.
You should possess a customer-focused, people first agenda. Your work should always centre around the customer, making commercial and innovative solutions to drive the business forward whilst putting people first. Above all you will be a hands-on, visible leader with a positive can-do attitude.
