The School of Engineering is seeking to recruit a motivated and experienced individual as the School’s Health & Safety Manager.
The Opportunity:
The successful applicant will join a growing and dynamic school within the College of Science and Engineering located on the University’s King’s Buildings campus. They will join at a time where the School is seeking to adapt and expand its physical estate and staff roster to better support current and future research and teaching needs.
The post-holder will exercise delegated authority from the Head of School for the management of Health and Safety (H&S) within the School. This will include providing advice and support to staff and students on aspects of health and safety relevant to School activities. As such, the successful candidate will engage with the diverse community that forms the School of Engineering and they will use their experience and knowledge to support existing processes and influence the further development of the School’s health and safety systems.
It is essential that the successful candidate hold a NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant practical experience involving progressively more demanding work / roles, which may include a degree level professional qualification. Ideally, this experience will be in a similar role in an engineering workshop, university laboratory, or comparable work environment. The candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and IT) to enable positive engagement with a range of audiences, and ensure they are able to negotiate and manage complex issues in an efficient and effective way.
