The Safety Health and Wellbeing Team support the University of Strathclyde in delivering a safe working environment for over 4500 staff and 23,000 students across campus. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the team for a Fire Safety Officer. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager this is a varied and challenging role, acting as the competent person for fire safety matters across the University. With a focus on improving fire safety within the University of Strathclyde, you will provide specialist fire safety management advice to a University community engaged in diverse and challenging activities. This will include conducting investigations, undertaking audits/inspections, designing and delivering training, producing reports and fire safety policies and guidance, and undertaking and reviewing fire risk assessments. You will have experience and understanding of how fire safety legislation and best practice is applied in a Higher Education setting or other complex, multiple site organisation. You will have the ability to influence and engage with management and a range of employee communities, building and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships.
