The Role:

As SHEQ Advisor, you will be responsible for driving cultural change and promoting awareness across the Argyll and Bute sites – Lochgilphead, Dunoon, Oban, Campbeltown, Rothesay. You will provide professional Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality advice to multi-disciplined sites and ensure that risks are effectively identified, communicated and controlled. You will help managers and employees engage in best working practices and identifying areas of improvement within the company.

  • Coach, challenge and support the region and help identify and manage risk
  • Take appropriate and robust action for any non-conformance
  • Encouraging innovative ways of working and challenging existing operational practices
  • Responsible for frontline SHEQ advice at all sites with the designated coverage area
  • Ensure the company operates within its environmental permits and identify potential breaches
  • Prepare regional monthly, quarterly, and annual company SHEQ reporting for the Head of SHEQ
  • Help Manage critical suppliers’ audits and internal processes to minimise risk
  • Defining and delivering training to ensure employees are competent to deliver their roles
  • Analysing local SHEQ data (including CAR and incident reports) to monitor performance and plan improvements
  • Ensuring that all incidents are thoroughly investigated to determine immediate and root cause, prevent recurrence and identify areas of improvement
  • Conducting risk reviews, gap assessments and site visits to identify non-conformance and enable sites to address areas of concern
  • Manage the document control process at a regional level
  • Assist with third party (sub-contractor) and external audits as required

 


Experience required:

You will be an organised, confident and highly motivated SHEQ advisor with good communication skills. A keen self-starter who takes care in the standard of their work and builds constructive and honest working relationships.

Confidentiality and attention to detail are prerequisites for the role. The candidate must be a team player with strong influencing and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and implement pragmatic solutions to complex problems.

Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (eg. NEBOSH certificate or equivalent as a minimum)

To be fully conversant with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001

Strong practical understanding of relevant UK Health, Safety & Environmental legislation

IT Literate

Full UK Driving Licence
