The Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager is responsible for all activities related to occupational safety and health in our manufacturing facility. This key role will lead in the development, deployment and continuous improvement of programs and systems that support health and safety excellence and environmental.
You promote the continuous improvement of facility safety and health systems to reduce accidents and illness, the assurance of SHE compliance, and make safe behaviours part of day-to-day thinking.
You will coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities related to meeting all safety and health standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally. You will also oversee and be responsible for all hourly and salaried safety training.

- Ensure compliance with safety policies, regulations, and reporting in manufacturing
- Model and promote an organizational culture that fosters safe practices through effective leadership and training
- Work with site leadership team to ensure all key safety operational controls are in place and safety action items and work orders are resolved on a timely basis
- Develop and maintain safety and environmental training plans for personal and professional development of managers and employees
- Maintain and update existing safety procedures, standard operating procedures and policies
- Conduct internal safety audits in a timely manner to ensure regulatory compliance
- Partner with manufacturing managers to review and improve safety practices and ensure adoption by employees
- Provide critical information and documentation to 3rd party auditors as necessary
- Assist in the continuous improvement of hazard identification and risk assessment
- Manage compliance for environmental regulations (e.g. air permits)
- Perform hazardous risk assessments for tasks or jobs to identify potential hazards and develop risk prevention plans to mitigate them
- Review and analyse accident/injury reports and data for accuracy and detail, ensuring corrective actions are taken
- Maintain and update existing safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and policies
- Develop specific safety objectives and create actions plans to meet those objectives
- Manage and maintain site specific internal safety systems and reporting tools
- Ensure appropriate countermeasures are properly identified to prevent reoccurrence using a robust incident investigation process including 5-Why root cause analysis
- Ensure timely coordination of all regulatory environmental testing, training, required permit filings to maintain compliance with all environmental standards
What you need to succeed:
- NEBOSH qualified – ideally Diploma level
- Multiple years SHE experience in a manufacturing environment
- ISO14001 Auditing experience
- Experience of managing an Environmental Management System to ISO14001 standards
- Management experience – leading a team and growing people
- Ability to understand and apply department policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of safety standards and methodologies
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire others to comply with safety policies and standards
- Strong aptitude for organization, prioritization and managing multiple tasks at the same time
- Inspire others to develop themselves and seek out continuous learning
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Solid negotiation skills and an expert in problem solving
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- IT skills especially Microsoft packages
