The main responsibility of the role of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor is to provide advice on all aspects of environment, health, safety, and also provide the liaison with off-site health, safety and environmental specialists when required. This will involve working as a member of a cross-functional team to support primary manufacture processes and contributing to the resolution of EHS issues including the development of corrective and preventative actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with all business areas on site to drive and continually improve EHS performance, engaging with people from all areas of site.
  • Participate in process safety activities and provide EHS guidance during project activities.
  • Assist in the preparation, planning and delivery of EHS training and awareness.
  • Support the investigation of accidents and incidents and the development of corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist with the closure of EHS related actions.
  • Ensure management is kept advised on the latest legislative and corporate requirements with regards to EHS.
  • Support the EHS Director, EHS Manager and other EHS team members.
  • Support the EHS Director in devising strategic opportunities to improve EHS performance at the site.
  • Work with other agencies in and outside GSK on EHS issues (e.g. Health and Safety Executive, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Local Authority etc).
  • Contribute to the site audit programme to monitor compliance with EHS standards
  • Record and analyse EHS statistics to enable the data to be used to monitor performance and as a basis for improvement.
  • Support the site to ensure legal compliance with aligned legislation

Why you?

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Proven experience of working in an EHS role previously
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area
NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
Experience of Health & Safety or Environmental Management Systems e.g. knowledge of HSG65, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001
Experience of process safety and COMAH as applied to the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industry would be advantageous
Can demonstrate problem solving ability
Effective communication skills – both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively with and influence others at all levels
Able to operate as part of a team with positive interpersonal skills.
