Our Internal Technical Support (ITS) team provides support to a huge variety of projects from combat aircraft and armoured vehicles to submarines, body armour and aircraft carriers. Joining this team will help you become a ‘go-to’ expert, through our supportive learning culture and your own drive to provide vital expertise helping DE&S manage safety risks across a breadth of high-profile projects. By ensuring military equipment is safe to operate with world-leading capabilities, this team makes a big difference to projects integral to supporting our armed forces!

Responsibilities for Safety Engineer
As a Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Developing artefacts/evidence used in the assessment of environmental/safety risk, and considering the implications of changes to equipment design, offering mitigation advice in the process
- Providing advice and support to colleagues, ensuring that appropriate safety requirements are correctly applied and delivered in contracts
- Creating and implementing safety management systems for products, services or systems, as either part of design or in-service support
- Interpreting and applying safety policy for the design and support of platforms and equipment
- Utilising your exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to offer all of the above services across multiple areas, including Maritime, Land, Weapons, Air and Submarines, ensuring that your solutions are understood and appropriately executed
What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in an engineering or science discipline, or will demonstrate equivalent relevant industry experience
- Have demonstrable experience using a range of safety tools and techniques, to provide advice and guidance on complex projects, e.g. Hazard Log Management; Hazard Identification; Risk Assessment and
ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) justifications * Have experience in the development and writing of safety artefacts in support of compelling safety bodies of evidence
