We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic nuclear engineers with a minimum of 5 years’ experience to join our newly opened central Bristol offices. The successful candidates will support the delivery of technical engineering, safety case and project management to a number of major projects within the nuclear power generation sector. Such projects include major plant modifications at Sizewell B, system engineering at Hinkley Point B, decommissioning preparations at Dungeness B, large safety cases managed by EDF Design Authority and commissioning activities at Hinkley Point C.

Typical responsibilities may include:
• Implementation of modifications to plant, including:
oUndertaking plant obsolescence assessments
oAuthoring specifications for new equipment
oReviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports
oAuthoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
• Support plant operability, including:
oCondition monitoring and identification of plant faults
oSupporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk downs
oReviewing maintenance routines/strategy.
• Support the development of major safety cases, including:
oAuthoring, verification and management of engineering change documentation
oFacilitating hazard identification (HAZID, HAZOP) workshops
oUndertaking specialist hazards reviews such as seismic assessments
oSupporting probabilistic safety assessments (PSA).
• Production of formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
• Management of projects, including:
oResponding to client requests for support
oAccurately costing project tasks
oManaging resource to ensure project delivery within budget
oMaintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards, methods, data and use of appropriate software.
Requirements:
• Risktec will consider engineers from a number of disciplines:
oMechanical Engineering
oElectrical and Electronic Engineering
oControl and Instrumentation (C&I)
oCivil Engineering
oChemical Engineering
oPhysics and Nuclear Physics.
• Experience in maintaining engineering systems, commissioning new plant and/or delivering nuclear safety cases is desirable.
• Previous experience working with EDF or Magnox is desirable. We are particularly keen to speak to anyone with nuclear new build experience (HPC/SZC etc).
• EDF AV2 or AV3 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Highly computer literate.
• Hold a minimum of BPSS security clearance or are eligible to obtain it.
Personal qualities:
• Able to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently where needed.
• Clear communication skills are essential, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills and attention to detail are critical.
• Strong analytical and logical skills are essential.
• Able to travel within the UK.
