This position will provide technical safety expertise and guidance to teams to achieve project objectives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes and standards.
- Produce/ check/ approve HSE engineering deliverables such as design basis, philosophies, firewater PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets, safety layouts, complete analysis for hazards and environment aspects and will guide others; develop the content of deliverables from first principles where necessary
- Define/co-ordinate subcontract relating to HSE Engineering activities
- Co-ordinate/Participate in HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP and other design HSE / operability / reliability studies and workshops.
- Close out of assigned HAZOP (and other design HSE) action items
- Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessary
- Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve design verification through single-discipline check / interdisciplinary check.
- Execute project in accordance to McDermott management system
- Capture lessons learned and submit via McDermott lessons learned system to initiate improvement
- Guide less experienced engineers on McDermott and Discipline procedures, standards, design calculations and simulations
- Interface with other engineering disciplines and departments to obtain input for discipline designs and drawings.
- Ensures effective management of change
- Act as a lead where assigned, in addition:
- Direct medium or large HSE Engineering team.
- Allocate tasks to the team, managing the relative strengths of the team members
- Plan, organize and direct all aspects of Discipline execution on the assigned project including scope, deliverables, schedule and all engineering resources – agree allocations with the Discipline Manager.
- Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified.
- Maintain responsibility for progress and productivity, identifying any required corrective action.
- Act as project representative for the Discipline during meetings with Project Team, Customer discipline lead and relevant agencies such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, etc
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- Track record of successfully supporting the similar size organization as McDermott
- Detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes and guidelines
- Good planning and progress reporting skills
- Ability to collaborate and direct team members
- Demonstrate skills in persuasion, presenting cases to projects and reaching a compromise where necessary
- Interacts with others in a professional manner, promoting cooperation and teamwork
