Job Description
  • Ensure that health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are up to date and are being adhered to and implemented throughout the business.
  • Manage COSHH program. Maintaining internal COSHH library for hazardous and non-hazardous products to ensure compliance across all practices.
  • Ensure Operose Health meets its statutory obligations in all areas through review of yearly H&S Audits.
  • Ensure continuous improvements of risk assessments for all work operations.
  • Conduct practice visits to support and offer training when needed. Æ A
  • Investigate and respond to accident reports.
  • Facilitate, co-ordinate and preform yearly H&S audits scheduling with all practice teams. Holding pre-audit meetings and action planning post meetings with Practices. Aiding and Assisting with H&S concerns identified.
  • Support the business to ensure compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and industry standards.
  • Creation of H&S content for weekly comms to include engagement and involvement with Practice Managers, relaying important updates and information, focus topics and incident investigation learnings.
  • Support practices and corporate staff with DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Assessment management.
  • Support the FM team in the review of Fire Risk Assessments & Legionella Risk Assessments for Operose Health properties and demised locations where required. Support with ensuring actions completed as appropriate to risk.
  • Ensure all internal H&S documents are up to date on RADAR
  • Deliver internal health and safety training to key members of staff.
  • Support with new initiatives, including Safety Lead and Safety Champions programs throughout the organisation.
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare legislation and communicate any relevant changes to the business.
  • Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on health and safety matters.
  • Lead on the creation of SOPs and Health and Safety Handbook / Workbook to assist practices with tools to help ensure legal and compliance documents are being recorded.
  • Work with FM coordinator on Contractor management and approvals.
Nature and Scope:
Organisation and Planning
Responsible for managing caseloads independently with limited supervision.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate investigation of accidents/incidents whether directly or by ensuring appropriate managers are allocated to responses and actions.
Information Resources
Contribute to collecting evidence to demonstrate compliance with the CQC and HSE standards on health and safety management and policy standards.
Person Specification
  • At least three years’ experience working as a health and safety professional.
  • Be open to undertaking national travel and overnight stays for site visits where required.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in delivering training, with good feedback from participants.
  • Ability to work confidentially.
  • Experiencing in creating, implementing and revising H&S programs
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Must hold the NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Must hold an IOSH Membership status of at least Technical Member (TechIOSH)
  • Must hold a valid full UK driver’s license.
  • Understanding of the health sector, particularly primary care, is desirable.
