Full Job Description
Embark on a pivotal role as an Environmental and Safety Engineer at Campact Ltd. Here, you will lead the continuous improvement and maintenance of our Safety and Environmental Management System (SMS-EMS), ensuring its optimum performance and legal compliance. You will strategise and implement relevant processes and policies companywide, advocating awareness and adherence among employees, vital to the success of our upper-tier COMAH operation.
Your Tasks
- Support the development, implementation, continuous improvement and ongoing maintenance of Campact’s Safety and Environmental Management System (SMS-EMS). In particular, to focus on environmental and safety critical systems, the implications of failing integrity and control actions needed in an emergency.
- Support the Process Safety Engineer in Hazard Studies, Process Safety audits, COMAH Safety Report and act upon recommendations.
- Participate in incident investigations, providing recommendations and acting to improve common incident root causes.
- Act as a driving force for Campact in developing and leading a strong site safety culture.
- Conduct training on environmental and safety related topics; develop / update training materials as needed.
- Reduce accidents and near misses through effective management of training of safety issues and oversee regular practice emergencies.
- Generate periodic reports and KPI’s on the status of environmental and safety-related activities and follow-up with management to help assure timely completion of activities.
- Liaise with the EGGER (UK) Health and Safety and Environmental departments and drive joint initiatives at Campact.
- Carry out Environmental and Safety Audits to comply with SMS-EMS requirements.
- Attend and chair any meetings required as part of the normal duties, including occasional trips to continental Europe.
- Provide out of hour’s support if required.
- Maintain ISO14001 and ISO45001 compliance.
- Be a safety, environmental and energy reduction champion at Campact.
- Lead Campact’s environmental and energy improvement projects.
- Lead Environment Agency inspections and support the Process Safety Expert with preparation, presentations and follow up to inspections from the Competent Authority (EA and HSE).
Our Requirements
- Honours Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Related work experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organisation/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports beneficial.
- Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Attention to detail and accuracy are important.
- Ability to maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of German language would be an advantage but not essential.
- Project Management Skills desirable.
