Start your journey to becoming a chartered project management professional whilst working on key safety and innovation-led projects that shape how we build and operate our roads.

What you’ll be doing

On our three-year Project Management graduate programme, you’ll mix study with real life work across a variety of exciting projects in our Safety, Engineering and Standards directorate.

As a graduate project manager, you’ll build your experience and knowledge through inspirational placements. Guided and mentored by expert industry professionals, you’ll explore the full lifecycle of project delivery, planning and management.

Depending on your placement, you’ll discover National Highways’ vital work in:

· Road Safety

· Roads Development

· Health, Safety and Wellbeing

You’ll also complete a programme of formal study, tailored to your developing project management career to become a full professional member of the Association for Project Management (APM).

At the end of your programme, you’ll have opportunities to continue your career journey with us and be at the heart of projects that deliver the best solutions to connect the country.

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll also need to meet these essential qualification requirements:

· Any undergraduate (e.g., BA, BSc) degree at 2:2 or above in any subject, plus

· A minimum of a Grade C / Grade 4 in Mathematics and English Language at GCSE, or be willing to take alongside the level 4 Apprentice Programme provided as part of the programme

It is key to know all offers to onto our graduate programmes are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.
