Hundreds of NEBOSH, IOSH and IEMA courses now online

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has already caused a lot of disruption to our day to day life as well as the economy, with many businesses and employees wondering how it is going to affect work. Companies have started taking precautions to minimise the chances of contracting the virus. These precautions include work travel bans, cancelling training events and encouraging employees to work from home until further notice.

So many businesses all over the world are offering to help out during this time, and Astutis, a health, safety and environmental training provider wants to help too. Astutis has been quick to respond to the crisis and has transferred hundreds of their NEBOSH, IOSH and IEMA classroom course learners to either a virtual classroom academy or an online course.

Steve Terry, MD, Astutis said: “Until the Coronavirus is under control, many employees and learners have no choice but to work from home. Not all of the usual day to day activity can be done away from the office and so this presents an ideal time to address compliance-based training.  With NEBOSH, IOSH and IEMA content available in both online and virtual classroom learning platforms, workers can take the opportunity to build skills and apply their learning ready for return to work when time is likely to be at a premium with companies under pressure to catch up”

“We are also proactively contacting businesses to offer our services through additional discounts on our accredited online courses, as well as helping many of customers set-up virtual learning for their colleagues who are working from home. It might only be a small thing, but we’re to help in any way.”

While the trend for remote working now the norm, the extended lock-down has inadvertently forced many businesses to rethink the way they work while staying productive. On a wider scale, the move to greater video and online learning could help companies to review their travel and sustainability polices.  This may not only help save on time and costs but could drive a demand for trained professionals with IS014001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) expertise.

To meet the growing demand for such expertise, Astutis has launched a new online version of the IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management. The new online course is suitable for those starting a new health and safety job in environmental management who want a develop a solid knowledge of governance principles alongside the breadth of the sustainability agenda.

To support those working from home, the course allows learners to work in their own time, wherever and whenever suits them. The structured online programme includes readily available interactive exercises, videos, downloadable study text and practice assessments. Upon passing the course learners become an Associate membership of IEMA, the gateway into the profession.
