There are a growing number of environmental, health and safety software platforms available to mining companies, but finding the right system for a specific operation can be difficult.
Mining introduces requirements that are not always covered well by general workplace safety software. Operations may need to manage remote and underground work, contractors, mobile equipment, blasting, occupational exposure, environmental obligations, inspections and corrective actions across multiple sites.
Here we have compared four established health and safety software providers that explicitly state they support the mining sector: VelocityEHS, Cority, Intelex and IsoMetrix.
As well as reviewing each provider’s mining capabilities, we analysed publicly available customer-review data from G2, Capterra, GetApp, Software Advice, Gartner Peer Insights and TrustRadius to provide an additional indication of product adoption and user experience.
Review information was checked in September 2026.
Who is this content useful for?
This guide is a starting point for mining health and safety managers, EHS leaders, operational risk teams, procurement professionals and digital transformation teams researching safety-management software.
It is particularly useful if you need to build an initial shortlist before arranging product demonstrations or requesting quotations.
The comparison should not be treated as a substitute for product testing. Mining operations vary significantly, so buyers should evaluate each system against their own safety processes, workforce structure, regulatory requirements, connectivity conditions and existing technology.
What is the best mining health and safety software according to our study?
Based specifically on the combination of public review volume and consistently strong ratings, VelocityEHS has the strongest independent review evidence of the providers included in this study.
VelocityEHS currently has 184 reviews on G2 at 4.4/5 and 85 reviews across the shared Gartner Digital Markets review pool at 4.4/5. This gives it approximately 269 non-duplicated public reviews across the sources included in our comparison.
It is important to distinguish this from saying that VelocityEHS will be the best software for every mining company.
Cority, for example, provides particularly broad occupational health and industrial hygiene functionality. Intelex has extensive configurability and mining-specific compliance capabilities. IsoMetrix has a strong mining, risk, HSEC and sustainability proposition.
The purpose of the study is therefore to show both how much independent review evidence exists and where each platform appears strongest based on its product positioning and published customer feedback.
Top Mining Health and Safety Software Comparison
*TrustRadius uses a 10-point rating scale. G2, Gartner Digital Markets and Gartner Peer Insights use five-point scales.
Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice form Gartner Digital Markets. Reviews can be syndicated across those properties, so identical reviews have been counted once rather than added together.
The ranking above reflects review evidence, not an absolute ranking of product quality.
Mining Health and Safety Software: Provider Guide
VelocityEHS
VelocityEHS offers a broad EHS platform designed for complex and higher-risk operations.
The company has a dedicated mining solution covering safety, ergonomics, chemical management, operational risk, contractor safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene and sustainability. Its mining material specifically references hazards including unstable ground, mobile equipment, blasting, dust, confined spaces and distributed workforces.
Its safety functionality includes incident management, inspections, observations, audits, compliance management, corrective actions, safety meetings and training.
One of VelocityEHS’s main advantages is therefore the breadth of its platform.
A mining company can potentially manage traditional safety processes alongside chemical inventories, occupational exposure, contractor risk and environmental requirements rather than operating a separate system for each discipline.
Review findings
VelocityEHS has the largest public review sample in this comparison.
G2 currently gives the provider an average rating of 4.4/5 from 184 reviews. Recent reviews include feedback from Mining & Metals users as well as users across manufacturing and other industrial sectors.
The Gartner Digital Markets review pool contains 85 reviews with an average rating of 4.4/5. Software Advice also includes a recent review from a Mining & Metals company with more than 10,000 employees. That reviewer described the software as intuitive and generally well received by new employees, while also reporting slow support response times.
Across reviews, usability and the ability to centralise EHS functions are recurring positives. Navigation within some modules, support response times, customisation limitations and cost appear among the concerns raised by users.
What to consider
VelocityEHS may be particularly relevant to mining organisations that need more than basic incident and inspection management.
Companies should establish exactly which modules are required and how the commercial model changes as more capabilities are added.
Offline operation, contractor access, reporting flexibility and the field experience should also be tested using real mining workflows rather than relying entirely on a standard software demonstration.
Best suited to: Mining organisations looking to manage several EHS disciplines within a broad platform, particularly safety, industrial hygiene, chemicals, contractor risk and operational risk.
Cority
Cority provides an enterprise EHS platform with a dedicated solution for mining and metals.
Its mining offering brings together incident management, occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental management, contractor management and sustainability.
Cority specifically states that mining users can capture hazards, near misses and incidents using desktop or mobile devices, including when offline. Its industrial hygiene functionality covers exposure data relating to dust, noise, radiation and heat, while its occupational health offering includes clinical encounters, health surveillance and return-to-work processes.
This combination is notable because mining health and safety can extend considerably beyond incident reporting.
Long-term occupational exposure and worker health can be major considerations in mining operations, particularly where employees are exposed to dust, noise, heat and other occupational hazards over extended periods.
Cority also publicly identifies mining and metals customers including Rio Tinto, Barrick, Eramet and Westmoreland on its mining industry page.
Review findings
CorityOne currently has 80 product-specific reviews on G2 within Cority’s wider G2 seller profile.
Capterra gives Cority an average rating of 4.4/5 from 113 reviews, including ease of use at 4.1 and customer service at 4.4.
The EHS-specific Gartner Peer Insights listing shows a further 4.4/5 from three ratings.
Public reviews frequently highlight configurability, centralisation of EHS information and enterprise capability. However, some reviewers report that straightforward tasks can require multiple clicks and that initial adoption can take time.
What to consider
Cority’s breadth is likely to be an advantage for organisations trying to consolidate occupational health, industrial hygiene, environmental and safety information.
That breadth can also mean a larger implementation.
Mining teams should therefore test not only the administration environment but the experience of the frontline user completing an inspection, reporting a hazard or closing a corrective action.
Offline behaviour should also be tested under realistic site conditions.
Best suited to: Large mining and metals organisations that want safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene and environmental management connected within an enterprise EHS system.
Intelex
Intelex provides a configurable EHSQ platform and has a dedicated Metals & Mining solution.
Its mining offering explicitly covers permits, audits, ISO certifications, wastewater discharge, safety citations, employee training, incidents, near misses and mine-land reclamation.
The company also references support for compliance with MSHA and OSHA requirements, making its mining proposition particularly clear for operations with formal regulatory and compliance-management requirements.
Intelex’s main differentiator is configurability.
The platform can be adapted around an organisation’s existing workflows rather than requiring every customer to follow exactly the same process.
That can be useful for large mining companies operating across several sites or jurisdictions and attempting to standardise reporting while retaining organisation-specific controls.
Review findings
The Intelex EHSQ product currently has 65 G2 reviews, with an average rating of 4.1/5.
Capterra gives Intelex EHS Software 4.2/5 from 63 reviews. Its review data shows ease of use at 4.1 and customer service at 3.9.
Notably, the Capterra reviews include feedback from a Mining & Metals user who described the platform as highly customisable and powerful from an administration perspective, with strong reporting and dashboards, while noting that some areas could be difficult for users to navigate.
Gartner Peer Insights currently rates Intelex EHS Software 4.3/5 from four ratings.
TrustRadius presents a significantly different picture, with a score of 2.1/10 from nine reviews and ratings. Because TrustRadius uses a ten-point score rather than the five-star systems used by several other review sites, that score should be considered separately rather than mathematically combined with the others.
What to consider
The main question for mining buyers is whether Intelex’s configurability improves their processes or creates too much complexity for frontline users.
During a demonstration, buyers should ask a supervisor or operator to complete an inspection, report a near miss and find an outstanding corrective action without extensive guidance.
Configuration should also be tested from an administrator’s perspective so the buyer understands which changes can be managed internally and which require vendor support.
Best suited to: Larger mining businesses that need configurable EHSQ processes, structured compliance workflows and standardisation across multiple sites.
IsoMetrix
IsoMetrix has the smallest public review sample in this study, but mining is a significant part of its market positioning.
The company has a dedicated Mining and Minerals solution designed around EHS, ESG, operational risk, regulatory compliance and sustainability.
Its mining material specifically references hazards associated with heavy equipment, blasting, underground work and remote operations alongside contractor management, permits, environmental compliance and fragmented operational data.
The platform supports incident management, audits, inspections, compliance reporting, behavioural observations, permit-to-work processes, planned task observations, training management and mobile reporting.
IsoMetrix therefore has a wider HSEC and risk-management proposition than a standalone health and safety application.
Review findings
IsoMetrix Aurora currently has 15 reviews on Capterra with an average rating of 3.7/5. Ease of use is rated 3.5, customer service 3.7, functionality 3.6 and value for money 3.4.
Several of those reviews come specifically from Mining & Metals organisations.
One mining reviewer said the system captured information relevant to the organisation’s OHS system but could take a long route to complete some tasks. Another Mining & Metals reviewer described it as functional and suited to its niche, while another described the software as easy to use for managing SHEQ data.
The main limitation in analysing IsoMetrix through review data is recency.
A significant proportion of its publicly visible mining reviews date back to 2016 and 2017. Those reviews demonstrate historic mining use, but they should not automatically be assumed to represent the current 2026 product experience.
What to consider
Buyers evaluating IsoMetrix should request recent mining customer references that match their operational environment.
The broader EHS, ESG, HSEC and operational-risk functionality should also be assessed against the organisation’s actual requirements.
For companies attempting to consolidate sustainability, risk, environmental and safety management, that breadth may be valuable.
For organisations looking primarily for straightforward incident and inspection software, it may represent more functionality than required.
Best suited to: Mining and minerals companies that want EHS integrated with ESG, sustainability, operational risk and wider governance processes.
What the review data tells us
Public customer reviews provide useful evidence, but they should not be treated as a definitive measure of product quality.
The difference in review volume between these providers is substantial.
VelocityEHS has approximately 269 non-duplicated reviews across the sources counted in this study, compared with approximately 196 for Cority, 141 for Intelex and 15 for IsoMetrix.
That means there is considerably more public customer evidence available when researching VelocityEHS, Cority and Intelex.
It does not mean a product with more reviews will necessarily work better at a specific mine.
Review recency also matters.
A recent review from a safety professional working in Mining & Metals is generally more relevant to a 2026 mining software purchase than an older review from an unrelated industry.
Buyers should therefore consider review volume, rating, reviewer industry, organisation size, review date and the specific strengths or limitations described by users.
Tips for selecting the right mining health and safety software
Pick software for the safety processes you actually need
Start with the operational problem rather than the product.
If the priority is industrial hygiene and occupational health, Cority’s depth in those areas deserves close examination.
If broad safety, chemicals, contractor safety and operational risk need to be combined, VelocityEHS provides a wide range of capabilities.
If the organisation needs to configure detailed workflows around established corporate processes, Intelex may be relevant.
If HSEC, ESG, environmental and operational risk management are closely connected, IsoMetrix may be worth considering.
Feature breadth should not automatically be treated as an advantage. Software that contains functionality your organisation does not use can increase implementation complexity and administration.
Test offline functionality properly
Mining sites frequently include areas where network connectivity is unreliable or unavailable.
Do not accept “mobile compatible” as evidence of offline capability.
During the evaluation, disconnect the test device from Wi-Fi and mobile data and attempt to start a new inspection, report a hazard, attach a photograph, assign a corrective action and save the record.
Then reconnect the device and confirm how synchronisation works.
This is particularly important for underground operations and geographically remote sites.
Include frontline workers in the evaluation
Many software purchases are evaluated primarily by EHS professionals and system administrators.
Those users are important, but they may not represent the majority of people entering safety data.
Ask supervisors, operators and contractors to test the system.
If a routine inspection or hazard report requires extensive training, multiple screens or unnecessary data entry, adoption can become a problem regardless of how sophisticated the reporting environment is.
Look at configuration as well as features
Most enterprise EHS systems can be configured.
The more useful question is who can configure them.
Ask whether your own administrators can change a form, add a field, alter an approval workflow or create a new inspection without professional services.
A highly configurable system can become expensive to maintain if every change requires external support.
Consider total value rather than licence cost alone
Software cost should be evaluated alongside implementation, training, configuration, integrations, support and internal administration.
A lower licence cost does not necessarily result in a lower total cost if the system requires significant manual work or additional technology.
Likewise, a more expensive enterprise platform may provide better value where it replaces several separate safety, health, environmental and risk systems.
The right comparison is therefore not simply cost per user. It is the total cost of supporting the health and safety processes the organisation actually needs.
Review methodology
Review counts were checked in September 2026.
Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice have not been counted as three independent review sources. Reviews can be shared across the Gartner Digital Markets properties.
Where an additional review source uses a different scoring scale, such as TrustRadius’ ten-point score, the rating has been presented separately rather than converted into a five-star average.
The non-duplicated review-volume figures in this article are calculations for comparison purposes and do not represent ratings or rankings published by G2, Gartner Digital Markets, Gartner Peer Insights or TrustRadius.
